Other happy, sexy people

I wish I’d worked with Clay Felker. People in media always spoke of him as though he were larger than life. And I never completely understood why. And then he died. Yesterday. And now I know why. Read his obits. He was cool. He was happy. And yes, he was sexy.

Google News has a seemingly endless list of obits honoring him here.

It’s OK — Lance is OK.

The NY Times ran this article on Lance Armstrong this past weekend. Correct me if I’m wrong, please – but the point of the long spread seemed to be that the biking champion can do as much good as he likes, but if he continues to date women at the rate at which he does, all his anti-cancer awareness work isn’t going to be appreciated or remembered. Bottom line: Serial dating is eroding his goodwill.

How ridiculous is that? It’s his personal life. It’s not interfering with all his work, so why is it such a big deal? He fought cancer, he probably thought he was going to die at some point. He survived. If he wants to live life as a serial dater, let him be. He doesn’t hide it, so I’m guessing the women he meets don’t really have any illusions about him either. So why is the rest of the world complaining? Maybe they’re jealous?
